Abandoned fishing nets are a mounting problem that threaten ocean life and coral reefs. Interface is using recycled nets to help make their new line of carpet tile. How do you shine a spotlight on this environmental disaster and also show the payoff that recycling yields—beautiful carpet that does a bit of good in the world.

To coincide with the launch of the Interface Net Effect™ line at NeoCon, we decided to bring home the problem to the front door of the conference. As part of the setup for the video below, we took over part of Chicago’s beaches overnight for an experiential stunt that transformed the shoreline into a simulated disaster.

And as a companion to the stunt & resulting video, our team created the idea for a series of collages that paid off the concept of high-end product from inspired by and collected from the ocean. The final collages were created and photographed by Geof Kern.
